Relationships

I have come to the conclusion that in order for a relationship, whether it be a familial relationship, a friendship, or a romantic relationship, there has to be communication. There has to be talking AND listening. One person can't be doing all the talking and another can't be doing all the listening. It has to be an equal give and take relationship, or it will not work. it's like the social exchange theory; in order for a relationship to endure, the rewards must exceed the costs. If one half of the relationship is constantly giving and not receiving, tensions will come to fruition and eventually result in the demise of the relationship. You also can't expect the other person in the relationship to do something that you yourself refuse to do, or are not willing to do. A large part of relationships is looking in the mirror and studying yourself. Study yourself on your own and yourself in the context of the relationship. A person must be willing to change, but also be aware of the change too. Basically, relationships are a whole mess of complications, with the eventual outcome of happiness.

2007 CMAs (OK, it's mostly about Taylor Swift)

OK, so I am a country music FREAK, and if you have a problem with that, close the page NOW! Have all the weirdos left? They have? OK then, I am SO happy that Taylor Swift won the Horizon Award!!! She deserved it! And I absolutely loved her speech! "This is the highlight of my senior year!" How sweet!!! I can't believe she is only 17!!! She is amazing and talented. She writes or co-writes ALL of her songs. That's more than most entertainers can say, including Reba McEntire and Carrie Underwood, both of who are amazing performers. Let's hope Taylor is nominated for Female Vocalist of the Year next year!!! She DESERVES IT!!! The only thing that I can say about Ms. Swift that isn't absolutely wonderful, is that she seems to get very nervous when performingat awards shows, and the vocals slip...Still, its a trillion times better than what I could ever do, and she IS 17...Something many of you may not have known about her; she is a spokesperson for online safety. Ever since she saw a post on one of her fan pages of a fan looking for backstage passes, and someone else posted that they could get the fan passes for ANY show, just give them their name and info, she got very involved. She stresses that no one with the power to get her fans passes would contact them like that or ask for that kind of info on the internet. She visits schools all over the country, though predominately in her homestate Tennessee, warning teens of the dangers of online predators. Good job Taylor!!!

Boys and Girls

Ok, so everyone knows that there's a difference between girls and boys, bilogically, but we differ in so many other ways. How we deal with each other is a BIG difference. If ever you're going to get into a fight, make it with a guy. You see, guys will just go outside, beat the crap out of each other and then the next day, they're fine (unless the fight was over a girl...those are a lot more complicated). Guys also tend to fight clean, whereas girls fight dirty. Girls will gouge eyes, pull hair, the whole bit. Plus, they're fight starts before the actual physical altercation, and usually doesn't end for a LONG time. Girls will be nice to your face and then talk about you as soon as you leave the room. And they'll keep on talking even after the fight. Also, a fight between guys is between those guys, but girls bring in their posse, so to speak. Basically, girls are more likely to be dirty fighting b****es, than guys. Sorry.

Tolerance and Acceptance in the US

It has come to my attention, through none other than YouTube, that some people are very narrowminded and believe that nothing but math and science should be taught in our schools. The following is a back-and-forth I have been having with someone who felt the need to comment on a video of a student playing the national anthem at my school's Multi-Cultural Rally (I have edited the swearing that he seems to love using):
dallas1963
what the f*** is a "multi-cultural" rally????...do
these schools teach math and sciences anymore??

dobergirl101
yes, we just like to appreciate different cultures
during our rallies (which don't interfere with class time), instead of just
rooting for a sports team...our rallies are INTELLECTUAL

dallas1963
oh, that sounds so warm and cuddly...forget about
the d*** cultural, social c*** and start concentrating on math and
science!...this country is WAY behind on the stuff that really matters because
too much time is spent on touchy, feeling social engineering c*** like a
multi-cultural" rally

dobergirl101
For what it's worth, we have 3 people going to UCLA from
my class alone, not to mention three at UC Berkeley! And I got a 2010 on my
SATs, my friend got 2350 out of 2400, what was your score? And you say schools
aren't teaching us anything? Well guess what? One of their jobs is to teach us
TOLERANCE, something you obviously don't know the meaning of.
He has yet to reply to my lastest response. How do you all feel about this? Please let me know. And feel free to check out the video or leave Mr. Dallas1963 some love on YouTube.
